L'AVARE DE MOLIERE

L'AVARE is a famous French comedy of errors penned by the legendary French playwright Moliere, is more commonly known in English as The Miser. Moliere was often considered to be the French equivalent to Shakespeare.

The play was first performed in the year 1668, at the court of the French king, Louis XIV. This popular play revolves around a wealthy but miserly man named Harpagon.In his blatant chase for wealth, Harpagon falls for a girl who happens to be his son’s lover and be adamant that his daughter should get married with the richest man he comes across when she is already in love with Harpagon’s assistant.
