Hummus lovers, listen up. The International Hummus Day is on May 13 and to celebrate this wonderful occasion, Al Maeda restaurant in Dubai is throwing a hummus festival during Iftar. Yes this is real.

it’s International Hummus Day on the 13th of May, 2019 (yes, that's really a thing). And all hummus lovers will concur that their love for the delicious spread/dip goes much beyond just one day.
So, for those who can't walk past the bowls of hummus at any brunch, iftar or deli will be happy to know that this Levantine favourite will be the guests of honour at the Al Maeda restaurant down at JBR's Double Tree by Hilton from Monday May 13 to Friday May 17, and basically, you can indulge in A LOT of hummus for Dhs139 and thank us later.
And the best part? This will be organized at the same time as their iftar buffet so that all those observing Ramadan can also enjoy the dish. The fest will run from the Hummus day until 17 May, along with the usual Iftar. So, that’s a double bonanza! In case you didn’t know, humus is a dip made of mashed chickpeas or other beans, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and garlic. It is generally used as a dip for appetizers or for the mains.
The Lebanese eatery will be marking International Hummus Day with a range of flavours. The festival will dish out six different flavours of hummus including pistachio, Beiruti etc. Spread it on your bread or eat it as is! Alongside the festival, the main Iftar buffet will run throughout Ramadan (from 7pm to 10 pm) and will include a selection of Arabic cuisine and beverages. There will be a live oud player to provide you entertainment and weekly raffle draws and more.
The most important part is that hummus will be everywhere, and that is all we really need.
