Grease - Screening at Cinema Akil

If you've got chills and they're burgeoning, then get yourself down to this fabulous sing-a-long screening of Grease. Relive 50s-style summer loving and high school drama with greaser Danny Zuko (John Travolta), wholesome transfer student Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton-John), ever-sassy Betty Rizzo (Stockard Channing) and the whole Rydell High School gang at Dubai’s only independent art-house theatre Cinema Akil this November.

Grease is set in summer in the 1950s, where high school gang leader Danny Zuko has a whirlwind romance with young Australian ingenue Sandy Olson. When the holiday ends they have to split up, having first sworn eternal love. As it turns out, Sandy attends the same high school as Danny, which threatens their relationship and collides with the boy’s reputation as a ladies’ man and The Pink Ladies’ notoriety. Can Danny protect his relationship with Sandy from his reputation as a resident bad-boy and lady killer?

The arts venue's first singalong kicks off with a new print with restored colour, sound and resolution. The movie features hits including Greased Lightning, Summer Nights and Beauty School Dropout and is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

Tickets for the special screenings will set you back Dhs52.50, with showings on Wednesday November 7 and Saturday November 10.
