Events and Festivals in Dubai

Dubai offers numerous events catering to tourists, locals and business visitors, with several of these being organized during the period November to March, when the weather in Dubai is rather pleasant.

  • Dubai Shopping Festival - DSF (January-February)

    Launched in 1996, as per the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Shopping Festival positions Dubai as the leading tourist destination and stimulates the economic and tourism sectors in the City. Being one of the international events organized annually by the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (also known as DSF Office), DSF has grown to be a global attraction today, offering the very best in shopping, and family entertainment.

  • Dubai Summer Surprises - DSS (July -August)

    The Dubai Summer Surprises Festival is a warm weather version of the Dubai Shopping Festival (held during June, July and August, with discounts, sales and special events in shops and malls throughout Dubai) and is an experience unto itself with mesmerizing attractions for everyone.

  • Dubai World Cup Horse Race (March)

    The Dubai World Cup is a Thoroughbred horse race organized annually in Dubai since 1996 at the Nad Al Sheba Meydan Racecourse. The race is operated by Emirates Horse Racing Authority (EHRA). The Dubai World Cup is an apt tribute to his love for horses and horseracing.

  • Dubai Marathon (January)

    One of the most popular sporting events in Dubai, is the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, organized in the month of January every year. The Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon has been firmly established as one of the leading road races in the world, largely due to the huge prize-money of $1million being offered, apart from a $1million bonus for a new world record, sponsored by Dubai Holding.

  • Dubai International Film Festival

    Launched in the year 2004, with the theme of ‘Bridging Cultures, Meeting Minds”, the DIFF is a non-profit cultural event, organized and presented by the Dubai Techonology and Media Free Zone Authority. The festival with its wide choice of features, shorts and documentaries from across the world, depicts the true cosmopolitan and multicultural character of Dubai. DIFF forms an excellent platform for showcasing the excellence of Arab Cinema, while also contributing its bit to the development of the regional industry and talent, aiming to be a major international festival.

  • Dubai International Jazz Festival (January-February)

    The Dubai International Jazz Festival is an annual fest in Dubai, run by Chill-out Productions. This multi-award winning event offers quality music and spectacular performances, drawing in about 40,000 visitors each year. Ever-since the festival was officially unveiled in 2002, it is being held at Dubai Media City. It runs alongside the World of Jazz, a creative concept of free concerts and street entertainment, and Network Jazz Garden, the seven-day Jazz schedule.

  • Dubai Desert Classic Golf (February)

    The Dubai Desert Classic is an annual professional golf tournament organized in Dubai. It forms a part of European Tour’s early season “Gulf Swing”, a series of tournaments in the Persian Gulf region. The event is among the oldest of tournaments played for the first time in 1989. It was also the first European Tour Event to be staged in Middle East.

  • Cityscape Global (September)

  • Gitex Shopper (October)

    Gitex Shopper is one of the largest platforms for IT sector in the Middle East. Gitex Shopper and Consumer Electronics Expo is one of the leading events in technology retailing, and is an eight-day event.

  • Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship (February)

    The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship is a professional tennis tournament owned and organized by Dubai Duty Free. It is an annual event held in Dubai on outdoor hardcourts. It includes both men’s and women’s championships, and is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al MAktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

  • Sharmila's Dance Extravaganza (April)

    Sharmilas Annual Dance Show brings together more than 160 renowned dancers of all ages for a dancing extravaganza. It is held at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre, and it is a treat for visitors to watch the dancers perform passionate Latino, soul, Indian and hip hop moves.

  • Dubai International Boat Show (March)

    The Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS), with its proven 19-year track record, is one of the most anticipated events in the yachting calendar. The event unites high-end buyers and world-class suppliers from the most lucrative regions in the world.

  • Yas Marina Formula 1 - Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (November)

    There is excitement all round with comprehensive programme of entertainment, fabulous food and beverages and the ever popular driver autograph signings and PitLane Walks.

  • Dubai Air Show

    The Dubai Airshow, organized once in two years in Dubai, is the foremost aerospace event in the Middle East, and the fastest growing airshow in the world.
